Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
The roof covering is not as sealed as it looks, and a nest tucked under the tiles often shows up first as wasps in the bedrooms.
Where an extension or conservatory meets the original house there is often a hidden gap, and the low walls and sills around it make a sheltered, dry home for a colony.
Knowing what the visit involves, and what you can do beforehand, makes the whole thing calmer and means the technician can get on with the job.
Children are curious, and a nest at the roofline is exactly the kind of thing they want to look at, so a calm explanation and a few clear rules work better than a ban alone.
The weather changes how wasps and bees behave, so knowing what to expect on a warm, damp or cool day helps you interpret what you see.
“After 30 years in this house with no wasp problems, two come along at once. The service was excellent, done in a very short time by a very pleasant gentleman. I thoroughly recommend although I hope never to have to use his services again!”
