Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
A deck or pergola is built for long summer days and sunny lunches, which is exactly when wasps are busiest, so a careful check of the structure pays off.
Many wasp visits go wrong not because of the nest but because nobody knew who was meant to open the gate, move the car or keep the dog in.
If you only have half an hour to spare, a simple order of inspection gets the most useful checks done first around your home or premises.
The hours after a nest is treated feel like the right time to act, but the best contribution you can make is usually to do nothing.
Not everyone can check eaves, climb a ladder or move quickly away from a wasp, which is exactly why a nest should be dealt with early, and by someone else.
