Guides on finding, understanding and dealing with wasp nests.
Renovations open up walls, roofs and eaves, which can disturb or create nesting sites, so timing the work around the wasp calendar saves delay and stings.
A steady hum in a quiet shed is one of the earliest warnings of a nest, and listening carefully from the right spot tells you a lot without any risk.
Outdoor maintenance puts you on a ladder beside the same eaves, soffits and walls where wasps like to nest, so a look before you start is time well spent.
Weather changes the timing of the wasp year, but it never changes the basic rule that last year’s nest is not reused.
A wasp nest puts at risk not just the household but everybody who comes to the property: delivery drivers, window cleaners, tradespeople and friends.
